54-Year-Old Man Killed After Hitting Tractor-Trailer On Interstate In Westchester

A 54-year-old Hudson Valley man was killed after his vehicle struck a tractor-trailer parked near a rest area on a busy interstate in Northern Westchester.

The crash happened at around 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when a 2021 Kia Sportage driving southbound on Interstate 684 in Bedford left the roadway for an unknown reason and hit a 1995 International Harvester tractor-trailer parked south of the town's rest area, New York State Police announced on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

The driver, Putnam County resident Howard Zaibel of Brewster, was rushed to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, where he was pronounced dead.

State Police are now investigating the crash.
